England women rugby players to play against New Zealand in November

The female players for England rugby are scheduled to play against New Zealand on November 21 this year at Twickenham. Aside from this highly anticipated event, the men’s rugby team will also battle against the All Blacks.

This is the first time that the England men and women rugby play at the same venue at the same date. This occasion is part of the three-Test series between New Zealand and England.

The England rugby team will have a chance to avenge its 2006 women’s World Cup final defeat against New Zealand. The latter team edged the former 25-17 during that blockbuster encounter. England will play host of the women’s rugby World Cup final next year.

England coach Gary Street said that he’s confident that the four-time defending Six Nations Rugby champion will do well in the upcoming match. He added that the team’s performance in this match will serve as a benchmark on how they’ll fare in next year’s World Cup.

RFUW Managing Director Rosie Williams said that the women’s team is garnering massive support from the public which is a positive development in the sport.

Rugby Player Goes to Court for Drug Charge

Rayno Benjamin of South Africa’s Golden Lions Rugby Union has been charged possession of illegal drugs. The player appeared in court last Tuesday wearing shorts and a golf tee. Benjamin plays Left Wing for his South African Rugby Team.

The story starts in Benjamin’s place at Fontainebleau, Randburg last January 31. There he was found with Golden Lions Fly Half Earl Rose and two other friends. They were arrested for possession of illegal substances. Benjamin and Rose together with the others were scheduled to appear in court last May. But, the court date was cancelled because Forensics did not have enough evidence against the rugby players and their friends. The four of them were later on informed that the charges for Rose and the others have been dropped.

Benjamin on the other hand is still facing charges because the Forensic team was able to identify Ketamine as one of the drugs in the player’s possession. He was scheduled to appear in court again on September 8. He did so, but was not asked to plead. Benjamin’s attorney requested for the case to be postponed a few more weeks. His lawyer also revealed that his client will argue that the drugs were ‘planted’ on him.

The 4 England rugby team players who were claimed to have sexual assaulted a girl during their tour of New Zealand returned home yesterday with their teammates. The incident apparently happened earlier this month at the England team hotel in Auckland after the first defeat to the New Zealanfers. No formal complaint was made to the New Zealand police over the alleged sexual assault and the 4 players did not want to speak to officers.
Rob Andrew, the elite director of the Rugby Football Union’s, said the police investigation was ongoing.
“We have got to wait and see what happens,” Andrew said. “As far as the players are concerned, we have to support them in this.”

In the meanwhile, Welsh rugby star Gavin Hanson is under pressure to have a whole lot of kids. Girlfriend Charlotte Church, singer and television presenter, said she wants a “rugby team” of six babies.

Church is expecting her second child with Henson, said: “I want between four and six, and Gavin wants eigh, we’re trying to create a little rugby team,” she told Jonathan Ross during a pre-recorded interview which is to be broadcasted on Friday. “I want all my babies young and then I’m going to get married and look fabulous.” Miss Church gave birth to her first daughter Ruby in September, their second baby is due in November.
