“The tournament would be best positioned to elevate the women’s game to new heights.”  Said Bernard Lapasset of the IRB.

Qualifying for the Women’s Rugby World Cup is set to start before 2009 ends and will continue until the games commence. The event will be a twelve-nation tournament and will showcase women rugby players from all parts of the globe.

In 2006 the Black Ferns from New Zealand were the ones to take the Rugby World Cup gold. England went home with the silver. The French team triumphed over the Canadians during the battle for bronze. Next year’s event is being built up to attract much deserved attention from the public and the sporting world.

On the other hand, qualification rounds for the Rugby World Cup Sevens for Women 2009 are not under process in Dubai. Eleven of the sixteen spots have already been filled up.

In colleges also there are rugby sports for women along with the men. There is also the Women’s Rugby world cup where the women from all over the world compete to win the game. This event happens once every four month and it was establish in the year 1991. The event has grown stronger in the last fifteen years. Today all over the world many women have followed their heart and joined this game. It is one of the fastest growing sports between women in the world. They can play the game just like their counterparts. Before many people interrupt that this game was not the one fitted for women but now it is capturing many women like a magnet. As time flies many have begun to accept that this game can really be played by women.
