Japan lost to New Zealand the privilege of hosting the 2011 Rugby World Cup. As a result, the Asian nation has announced their interest in hosting the 2015 and 2019 Rugby games. Representatives of the Japan Rugby Football Union has announced late Tuesday – September 30, 2008 – that they have intensions of bidding for the succeeding games. They union has already sent a letter stating so to the International Rugby Board which is based in Dublin.

“We are bidding to host the Rugby World Cup not just for Japan but for Asia,” said Knobby Massimo of the Japan Rugby Union. “Bringing the Rugby World Cup to Japan and Asia will unlock the potential of rugby as a truly global sport.”

Other countries in the running for hosting the 2015 and 2019 games include Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Australia and South Africa. The International Rugby Union is still accepting hosting bids. Both the 2015 and 2019 hosting privileges will be award at the same time. The IRB says that this move will ensure better planning and certainty for the game hosts and their commercial partners.

Hosting the World Rugby Cup is not only a matter of pride. It also boosts the country’s economy. Last years host games held in France saw a profit of $214 Million USD or 120 Million Pounds.

While there, Jones talked about how the ELVs were ruining rugby and how Rugby should be kept ugly. Here is what Jones had to say

“The reason for the lack of quality is that sides are unsure of the way the games are going to be refereed. There has been such an emphasis on the ELVs that a lot of the other laws have not been administered. Sides are not being penalised for offside because the referee is focusing almost exclusively on the breakdown, and that kills the space, which makes it more difficult to attack well.”

Jones also goes on to say that “The Beauty of Rugby is in the Ugliness” and the ELVs are only causing players to stumble and think back. It’s a move by the Rugby Union to try and refine a sport that was already fine.

Jones also talked about the characters of most of the Rugby teams in the Union. He even goes on to say that English Rugby players are taught not to take risks. He also adds that the Australians were taught to be arrogant – both in rugby and cricket. Jones also went to talk about other teams in the Rugby Union including Springboks and the All Blacks.

Rugby is one of the oldest and one of the most popular contact sports in the whole world. Rugby has a wide fan following and the Rugby world cup is an affair which is keenly followed and supported. There are two forms of Rugby prevalent in the world today which are quite popular. The Rugby League which is a professional form of rugby is highly popular in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Rugby is named after the place where it was invented which is the Rugby school in the county of Warwickshire in England. Rugby has born a close resemblance to football but has now evolved and cannot be counted as an offshoot of football but it does still share some similarities with football.

Rugby has a rich and an entertaining history as has its roots in an eighteenth century Cornish sport which involved carrying and tossing a ball to different players or individuals towards a goal. These goals were not set up at a fixed distance and goals could be set up as far as in different villages. This created quite a fighting atmosphere and this has given Rugby such an aggressive appearance. However Rugby can also be associated with a tradition known as kicking the bottle which was followed in England since Pagan times. Rugby has assumed great popularity in almost the whole world and Papua New Guinea a country in the Pacific ocean has Rugby as their national sport.
